Welcome to a world full of possibilities! This is Creative Works and we are the official division created by Hyundai Motor Company to make creative strategies and designs for the brand projects. Our multi-disciplinary team is based in Seoul Korea and we work on campaigns and projects that will help our brand stand out in the global market. 

Our motto is centred around the saying ‘Be brave, be genuine’ because we want all of our projects to go beyond the imaginable and attain a whole new perspective in art as well as the world and our products.

We believe that it takes a brave person to be genuine and challenge the norm. This strong creative culture will create great work and make Hyundai Motor Company shine and stand out as the global innovator that it is. Throughout the years since our division was built, we had worked with a number of campaigns set up by Hyundai. These campaigns not only promote the products that the most popular motor company in Korea has but also promote efforts for the benefit of the community and the world.

#InCharge with BTS

Project detail: IONIQ x BTS with Innocean Worldwide and Big Hit Entertainment, 2020

Selected as the sole recipient of the Top Rank Global Sustainable Future Leader award by the United Nations, global icons BTS and Hyundai unite once again to celebrate the launch of Hyundai’s brand new sustainable mobility brand, IONIQ. At the heart of this partnership is an epic new music video ‘I’m on It’. We take a look behind the scenes to see where the inspiration for the video comes from and what makes the members of the band feel ‘in charge.

IONIQ offers people the chance to ‘take charge of doing the right thing whilst living freely and embracing everything that life has to offer. What better ambassadors are there for the IONIQ brand than BTS? With their seemingly unlimited energy, ambition and creativity, we believe that BTS has what it takes to take charge in creating positive change in the community, nation and the world!

SUGA lounges on his double bed as it floats on a star-lit lake. Jimin sits on a sofa nestled in a vast desert. Jin warms up his vocal cords in a recording studio amongst the trees.

The music video ‘I’m on It’ is a surreal visual spectacle, but what’s it all about? The collaboration between BTS and Hyundai marks the launch of the new electric lifestyle brand IONIQ, celebrating the freedom to live a sustainable life without compromise. It’s all about ‘Infinite possibilities’ as BTS Jin reflects in his message for the campaign. ‘The song means I’m in charge of the lifestyle I pursue. I create each moment and experience with IONIQ. Anything is possible,’ Jin added at the end of his message.

Shared values are a huge part of the collaboration with both Korea’s no.1 boyband and Hyundai. Both parties made a stride in their fields and together they created a more sustainable future. BTS’ positive, energetic influence and ability to share environmental concerns and interests with their fans made them special. It is also the reason why Hyundai chose them as the ambassador of the brand. 

In their interview with Hyundai, J Hope shared what he thinks about their influence as a band and how they, with the help of their fans, can change the world. He said ‘I don’t think there is anything more powerful than our bond with our fans,’ Jin added ‘As many people love us, we’re trying to blend into society with a better influence’. 

They are a band that uses glory and fame for the benefit of everyone and not just themselves. BTS is a group that uses its influence to make a positive change in the world. Through them, ARMYs and even the non-fans, are becoming more aware of the world’s situation. Their fans have actively taken their part in making the world a better place through donations, support of environmental movements and other campaigns for the betterment of the world, but how do BTS take charge themselves?

It can come from spending time in nature, appreciating it and therefore respecting it, or via their songwriting and music. ‘We always try to improve our way of thinking. I think our albums and dances reflect our progress.’ RM says. 

By doing this, they hope to encourage their fans around the world to think in a similarly sustainable way. ‘Thanks to the previous campaigns with Hyundai, such as our joint Global Hydrogen Campaign to encourage the use of clean energy, it has made me realize it is possible to have the forests we enjoy, the blue sky, the emerald sea,’ says J-hope, ‘if we try our best.’

For the band members, this is what the song I’m On It represents: A chance to pursue the lifestyle that you want and to work for a sustainable life where humans can enjoy a healthy environment filled with the beauty of nature. This kind of lifestyle is possible through Hyundai and if it is possible, then there is nothing stopping everyone from taking the step towards a better world. 

“The members’ personalities are merged into the song. Each member has a story to tell,” adds SUGA, the prolific composer and producer within the group, who feels most ‘in charge’ when he’s alone, spending time conceiving a new piece of music.

The global superstars have a simple goal in mind and it is in hopes of steering toward a brighter, cleaner future for later generations. “I hope we can see more eco-friendly cars in the future,” says V. 

“And since eco-friendly cars are electric or hydrogen-powered cars, then that means not only is there no noise produced, but it is also better for the earth and more sustainable. I would like to go somewhere quiet where people harm nature wherever they go. Like a drive in the mountains while feeling the breeze.” says Jung Kook.

Project detail: Hyundai x BTS with Innocean Worldwide and Bighit Entertainment

On February 21, 2020, BTS and Hyundai worked on a project that will provide a sustainable future through hydrogen energy. The beginning of the campaign started shortly after BTS was nominated to attend the Grammys’ prestigious award show. In the heart of New York Times Square, we reached out to fans and invited the future generation to a journey toward positive change in the world.

Our all-new Hyundai NEXO took BTS to their destination in the Grammys with zero emissions. As global artists, BTS use their influence to positively impact their fans worldwide. They drive power to various valuable social initiatives and their ARMY worked on these goals as well. There has never been a fandom and group more powerful and influential as BTS and their fans and it is this kind of influence that truly changes the world. 

Hyundai motors envision a world where people can go anywhere they like without harming the environment. The no.1 Korean motor brand dreams of clean mobility and teamed up with BTS to make this possible. Hyundai NEXO is Hyundai’s first vehicle to have a hydrogen fuel cell with a range of at least 609km from single fueling according to Korean certification standards. The only emission that this vehicle has is pure H2O, which is fitted with a filtering system that purifies the air around by eliminating 99.9% of the microparticles in the air.
